Lady Gaga leads MTV European Music Awards

The 2011 MTV European Music Awards nominees were announced on September 19 and Lady Gaga leads with nominations in six categories, closely followed by Katy Perry, Bruno Mars and Adele, who is the top-selling artist of the year.

In a show that appears to be dominated by female performers, Lady Gaga, Adele and Katy Perry will fight for the Best Female trophy at the EMAs in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on November 6.

Katy Perry and Bruno Mars each have four nominations. British singer Adele, teen heartthrob Justin Bieber and Thirty Seconds To Mars all collected three nominations.

Acts with two EMA nominations each include Foo Fighters, Snoop Dogg, My Chemical Romance, Jennifer Lopez, LMFAO, Jessie J, Beyonce, Coldplay, Eminem, Arcade Fire, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Far East Movement, Kanye West, Linkin Park, Wiz Khalifa and Kings of Leon.

Lady Gaga and Katy Perry are also up against each other for the Best Live and Best Pop prizes and Best Song, with Perry nominated for "Firework" and Gaga for "Born This Way," which is also up for Best Video.

Adele has been nominated for Best Female, as well as Best Song and Best Video for "Rolling In The Deep."
Singer/songwriter Bruno Mars is up for four awards, including Best New, Best Male, Best Push and Best Song for "Grenade."

MTV will also add the category of the Biggest Fans award. Credit
