Saif Ali Khan’s home production Love Aaj Kal has cleared the Censor hurdle with just one cut even though the film has, believe it or not, five kisses between Saif and Deepika Padukone.
However, since the kisses were shot aesthetically, the board did not find them vulgar or offensive. Rather, the Regional Officer of the Censor Board describes the kisses as “cute”.
“There are about five kisses in the film but they are not heavy-duty kissing scenes as such,” the Regional Officer is quoted as saying.
Incidentally, none of the kisses between Saif and Deepika in the film extend more than a few seconds. The Board official calls them mere “cute pecks on the lips”.
Even Imtiaz Ali, the film’s director has insisted that there’s nothing in ‘Love Aaj Kal’ that the family crowd would find offensive or repulsive.
Only one dialogue in the entire film was asked to be deleted by the Censor Board.
The film, set for release on July 31, has been cleared with a U/A certificate.
