Preity Zinta reportedly refused to show officials her identification while attempting to board a flight at Chandigarh airport.
According to The Times of India, the incident took place on Thursday evening.
Airport director HS Toor commented: "The official was only doing his duty. But Zinta was adamant and she wanted to proceed without showing any identity proof."
Zinta, the co-owner of the Kings XI Punjab IPL team, is known to travel frequently between Chandigarh, where her cricket team is based, and her home in Mumbai.
Toor added that the Kal Ho Naa Ho star was later permitted to board after agreeing to show proof of ID.
"However, things were sorted out soon. Later Zinta showed her identity proof and she was allowed to proceed," he added.
Zinta's delayed 2008 film Har Pal looks increasingly unlikely to release following the conviction of lead star Shiney Ahuja for the rape of his domestic assistant.
