The actor stars in a South remake with a beauty pageant winner
Even as South crossover actresses find it difficult to get a toehold in B-Town, another one makes it to our shores. Her name's Amy Jackson and she was 2008's Miss Teen World.
The 19-year-old Brit beauty queen stars opposite Prateik in the Hindi remake of Gautham Vasudev Menon's Tamil blockbuster Vinnaithaadi Varuvaayaa.
Amy already has a Tamil B-O success, Madrasapattinam, to her credit. Says Gautham, "We signed her on after seeing her Tamil film.
We did a workshop with her to help with her Hindi diction. She has learnt all her dialogues."
Interestingly, she replaces Trisha who starred in the original. The director explains the change, "We went with Amy because we wanted a younger looking girl who works well with Prateik."
The buzz was that the remake had been called off. The director refutes the rumours and explains that the film was simply delayed.
"At first, Aamir (Khan) wanted Prateik's dates to promote Dhobi Ghat and then, the Dum Maro Dum producers wanted his dates.
And even Sanjay Leela Bhansali took some dates for the shooting of My Friend Pinto. So, we decided to push the film a bit. It's going on floors on April 4." he says.
IN Entertainment, an entity of the Hinduja Group will co-produce the remake along with Menon's Photon Kathaas. AR Rahman will score the music.
