Bollywood actress Preity Zinta today said she would soon meet Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan over several issues of AIDS affected people, including Care Centre and proper distribution of condoms.
Celebrating AIDS day with around 50 AIDS-affected people including commercial sex workers, transgenders at the office of NGO Humsafar Trust here, Preity assured them that she would fight for their cause and convey their several demands including Care Centre, proper distribution of condoms, proper co-ordination from police, doctors, nurses and awareness programme on AIDS to Mr Chavan.
The AIDS affected people performed dances and other entertainment programmes to welcome Preity.
''I am here to just listen your problem and you have full freedom to table your message, I wanted to do something different for your community,'' the actress said.
Revealing the AIDS positive reports, NGO Hum Safar Trust Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Vivek Anand said, ''I have added around one lakh people in my NGO in the last 10 years and during this period, our NGO has conducted arond 33,000 HIV positive tests.'' Around 40 per cent commercial sex workers are HIV positive in Kamathipura, followed by 24 per cent Intravenus Drug Users (IDU), more than 55 per cent Transgender community and 12.5 per cent Men have Sex with Men (MSM), he added.
NGO Asha Mahila Sanstha, working for commercial sex workers and Sankalp Sanstha, working for drug peddlers also interacted with Preity.
