Sonam Kapoor's 'dress sense under fire'

Sonam Kapoor's adaptation of the traditional Indian sari has come under fire at a Mumbai event.
The actor, who recently played a fashionista in the Anil Kapoor-produced Aisha, received negative press at the launch of Masaba Gupta's boutique launch, Hindustan Times reports.

Stylist and television presenter Rishi Raj commented: "The classic look works the best, as seen on Deepika, Katrina and Vidya. Trying too hard to look 'designer' backfires many a time."

His criticism of Kapoor's unconventional look was joined by Reynu Taandon.

“If Sonam would have tied up the palla as a scarf on the neck, it would have looked more appealing. And if the net draped nicely, it would have looked elegant," said the designer.

The 25-year actress recently came under fire on Koffee with Karan for appearing on more magazine covers than on screen.

Kareena Kapoor 'signs political drama'
Kareena Kapoor is reportedly appearing in a politically-themed film for Farhan Akhtar's production house.

According to Mumbai Mirror, Sudhir Mishra, who worked with the star on Chameli, will be directing the production.

Mishra told the tabloid: "Yes, we have approached Kareena Kapoor for my forthcoming film to be produced by Farhan called Bhrub."

The director explained: "Bhrub happens to be the name of the central character around which the film will revolve. It's about a man who's an heir to a political family. Kareena will play the female protagonist. She has an equally important role to play."

The actress, who started her career in commercial Hindi cinema, has also experimented with arthouse projects such as the critically acclaimed Omkaara.

The filmmaker added that he wanted to explore this side of Kapoor. "She hasn't been exploited enough as an actor considering her immense talent," he said.
